Jaeden Izik-Dzurko

Chamber Music sa国际传媒 presents Canadian pianist Jaeden Izik-Dzurko in performance at the Mary Irwin Theatre tonight (March 21), to a sold-out house.

The Salmon Arm-born musician, 25, has been much-honoured on the world stage in the past few years. In 2021, the CBC named him one of the 鈥30 hot classical musicians under 30,鈥 and he has proved them right.

In 2022, he was the First Prize winner at the Hilton Head International Piano Competition, the Maria Canals International Music Competition, and the 20th Paloma O鈥橲hea Santander International Piano Competition. In 2024, he firmly established his place among emerging prodigies by becoming the Grand Prize Laureate in an instrumental edition of the Concours musical international de Montr茅al (the first Canadian to do so), then brought the year to a spectacular finish with a first prize win at the UKsa国际传媒 2024 Leeds International Piano Competition, receiving the Dame Fanny Waterman Gold Medal.

鈥淐MK was very fortunate to have booked Jaeden for our 2024-25 season before his big Leeds win,鈥 says President Diane Bond. 鈥淲e believe Jaeden will be hard to pin down in the coming years. Our sold-out concert shows that sa国际传媒sa国际传媒 classical music audience appreciates this opportunity to hear him in recital.鈥

A native of Salmon Arm, Jaeden began his studies at the age of 5 with his father, a piano teacher. He went on to graduate from the Juilliard School, where he earned a Bachelorsa国际传媒 degree and won the Gina Bachauer Scholarship Competition. He then completed a Master of Music degree at the University of British Columbia, where he studied with Corey Hamm. After completing his formal studies, Jaeden took further private studies with renowned BC pianist Ian Parker, along with training at the Hochschule fu虉r Musik Detmold and at the Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia.

Jaeden has performed with orchestras across North America and in Europe, including the Bilbao Orkestra Sinfonikoa, the Calgary Philharmonic Orchestra, the Okanagan Symphony Orchestra, the Edmonton Symphony Orchestra, the Kamloops Symphony, the Jove Orquestra Nacional de Catalunya, the Orquesta Sinf贸nica de Madrid, the Orquesta Sinf贸nica de RTVE, and the Real Orquesta Sinf贸nica de Sevilla, among others. He has performed as a recitalist at Wigmore Hall, Salle Cortot in Paris, and the Auditorio Nacional de M煤sica in Madrid, among others.

CMK has arranged an educational opportunity to make the most of Jaedensa国际传媒 time in sa国际传媒. On the day of the concert, he will lead a master-class for advanced piano students of the sa国际传媒 Community Music School, which will doubtless be a memorable experience for the students who participate.

For recital ticket-holders, there will be a pre-concert talk at the RCA by eminent Okanagan-based conductor Rosemary Thomson. Four pieces make up the recital program: J. S. Bachsa国际传媒 Partita No. 4 in D major, BWV 828; the Sonata No. 3 in B minor, Op. 58 by Chopin; Scriabinsa国际传媒 Fantasie in B minor, Op. 28; and finally the Preludes, Opus 23 by Rachmaninoff
