Peachland wildfire being held

This was the scene in Peachland Wednesday morning when the wildfire first broke out.

A wildfire south of Peachland was intense enough to close down Highway 97 on Wednesday, but by the end of the day BC Wildfire Services was able to reclassify the out-of-control fire.

鈥淭hanks to the quick work of aerial resources and ground crews, the Brent Road wildfire is now being held,鈥 BC Wildfire posted to X Wednesday night.

The fire was initially reported to be 0.75 hectares, while itsa国际传媒 now listed as six hectares. Human cause is suspected to have started it.

BC Wildfire dispatched ground crew, aerial support and heavy equipment, and were aided by crews from Summerland, Peachland and West sa国际传媒 fire departments.

However Highway 97 was still down to single-alternating traffic as of our press deadline on Thursday.
