Music that helped get us through WWII

Fan favourites Sax Among Friends will pay tribute to the 1940s on Nov. 8 in Summerland.

Don Wade of Sax Among Friends presents 鈥淢usic That Got Us Through WWII鈥 on Friday, Nov. 8 at the Summerland Community Centre.
This show is as much a tribute to those who lived through the war years as well as to those who made the ultimate sacrifice.

Wade peppers his stories about the beautiful and often haunting war songs with gracious humour. These stories come from his early years when he lived with -- as he often says -- his very wise grandmother, though whose eyes he recaptures the memories.
The evocative and gripping vocals are those of renowned and local chanteuse, Yanti. Between these two, prepare to laugh, smile, and have your heartstrings tugged.

Wadesa国际传媒 talented ensemble includes Al Crossley, with his bright and breezy style of playing the keys; Summerlandsa国际传媒 own (and SCCA member) Graham Walker on bass; and 鈥渉esa国际传媒 everywhere, hesa国际传媒 everywhere,鈥 drummer Rod Rose.

And, of course, Wade himself plays sweetly on his saxophones.

You鈥檒l be piped in, meet a Legionnaire in Regalia who will have a supply of poppies available, and be surrounded by unique decor.

Tickets are available now at Artisans of the Okanagan for $15 (cash only, no refunds) for SCCA members, and $20 for non-members.
Reserve tickets via e-transfer to听summerlandcommunitycentre@gmail.com. 听

There will be a cash bar for wine and beer as well as a 50/50 draw.
