That money, added to existing funding, would ensure 鈥楩resh for Kids鈥 is available to all sa国际传媒 schoolchildren who need the extra nutritional support.听
鈥淲ith Fresh for Kids, we鈥檙e not only making sure children are well-fed with the highest quality ingredients, but we鈥檙e also supporting sa国际传媒 farmers and keeping our local food systems strong,鈥 says Pat Tonn, executive director of the BC Agriculture in the Classroom Foundation.听
Currently, Fresh for Kids is not operating in Vernon-area schools, and it is active in only 10 sa国际传媒-area schools. The program is fully funded in Penticton area schools.听
鈥楩resh for Kids鈥 is a snappier rebranding of a long-running program called the School Fruit and Vegetable Nutritional Program.听The provincial and federal governments provide some funding for the program.
听鈥淎s we continue to highlight the need to 鈥楤uy BC鈥 and move away from our reliance on U.S. imports, we will spotlight sa国际传媒 farmers, sa国际传媒 producers, and sa国际传媒 processors in every way possible,鈥 says Agriculture Minister Lana Popham.听
