The Statement of Votes for the 2024 Provincial General Election was released Thursday.
A total of 2,109,658 votes were cast in the 2024 Provincial General Election, representing 58.45% of registered voters.
There were 3,609,288 registered voters as of the close of voting on Oct. 19, 2024.
By comparison, only 12% of eligible Penticton voters participated in the recent civic byelection for a vacant spot on city council.
The 2024 Statement of Votes shows that:
• of the 2,109,658 ballots cast in the 2024 Provincial General Election, 4,317 (0.2%) were rejected, compared to 14,921 rejected ballots in the 2020 provincial election (0.79% of total ballots cast in that election), and 11,662 in 2017 (0.59%)
• 1,002,004 votes (47% of all votes considered) were cast at advance voting, the most ever in a provincial election in sa¹ú¼Ê´«Ã½
• 106,623 voters (representing 5% of all votes considered) voted at a voting place outside their home electoral district
