Police asking for tips in Penticton murder

After being mostly silent for nearly two years, the Penticton RCMP issued a press release Tuesday on the death of Ted Randhawa, a popular resident of Penticton.
On Dec. 17, 2022 at around 5 p.m., RCMP were called to a report of a stabbing in the parking lot of the Gables Liquor Store in the 300 block of Martin Street.

According to a witness, the victim was standing beside his vehicle when he was approached by a male who stabbed him multiple times and then fled on foot.

It was initially believed the victim would survive, but in the days that followed, his condition changed, and he succumbed to his injuries.

鈥淭he investigation has made considerable progress, with investigators believing this was a targeted attack,鈥 said BC RCMP spokesman Cpl. James Grandy in Tuesdaysa国际传媒 media release.

鈥淧olice are continuing to advance the investigation by focusing on identifying the person, or persons involved. We鈥檙e reaching out to the public after almost two years in the hope that someone has information they鈥檝e yet to contact us about,鈥 said Grandy.

Randhawa, who lived with the affects of a brain injury suffered in a motorcycle accident, 听was remembered as handy and kind-hearted by long-time friend Jeanette Beaven.

鈥淗e could fix any problem. He was so smart,鈥 said Beaven, owner of Dragonsa国际传媒 Den Art Supplies in a 2022 interview.

Randhawa was born in the Philippines, attended boarding school in India and graduated from Penticton Secondary School in 1980.

鈥淭he incident took place in a busy area with many businesses and passersby,鈥 said Grandy. 鈥淭he likelihood of someone seeing or knowing more about this is high.鈥
